Global Issues and Trends in Healthcare

This course introduced me to contemporary global issues and emerging trends in health care. It has been constant exploration of policy topics affecting healthcare organizations, financing, quality controls, regulatory compliance, accessibility, and the delivery of services. Active discussions identifying “best practices” on a global basis is what makes this class most interesting and very relevant to today's issues and global health care systems.

Health without Borders

This course has taught me the concept of health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. Health is affected, for better or worse, by almost every human act. Examining global health reveals wide variations in health status and health burdens on communities and nations.

American History Since 1877

Covering the history of the United States from reconstruction gave me a whole new perspective on many key themes such as the emergence of the United States as a World Power, the Industrialization of the American economy, the growing authority of the Federal Goverment, efforts of American minorities to win greater Civil Rights, something I am specifically passionate about, and reform movements that changed the nation.

Communication in Film

Through this course I learned the extent and interesting world of film and all the art it carries behind. It was mesmerizing to learn first hand the unique relationship between communication and film from the 1920s through today. Since it was focused on  U.S. and Global cinemas I loved how all history was in one way or another portrayed in films and how it influenced and nevertheless, how its elements like technology, aesthetic, and socio-cultural histories of film have emerged and changed over time.
